Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie followed in their father's footsteps today as British trade ambassadors. 

Prince Andrew's daughters arrived in Germany for a two-day jolly promoting the UK's GREAT campaign to woo businesses to our shores. 

The pair touched down in Berlin looking sleek and stylish, particularly Beatrice who showed off her tiny waist in a striking green dress she later covered with a black coat and belt. 

But she could not escape her past fashion blunders - as one cheeky eight-year-old schoolboy asked about the infamous pretzel-shaped Philip Treacy hat she wore to the royal wedding and later auctioned for charity for 81,The Hot Sale Ball Gown Wedding dresses. What dress you wear?000. 

Beatrice revealed she hadn't seen it before the wedding day and also confessed the huge pink hat was hard to walk in because it wobbled every time she moved. 

The sisters met school children then drove a Mini emblazoned with the Union flag from Berlin's landmark Brandenburg Gate to the British Embassy before attending a fashion fair and visiting small businesses. 

It is the first time Beatrice, 24, and Eugenie, 22, have represented Britain abroad, and a Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said Number 10 asked them to support the campaign. 

She added: “They were happy to do it.” 

But critics have accused Prince Andrew of trying to push his daughters forward for public roles, despite the fact the public would benefit from a slimmed-down monarchy in cash-strapped times. 

He was forced to step down as Britain's trade envoy in July 2011 after criticism of his inappropriate friendships and use of taxpayers money for private jets that saw him nicknamed Airmiles Andy. 

He paid for Beatrice and Eugenie to fly economy class to Germany. 

Tomorrow the sisters will complete their visit in Hanover. 

Hankins: These are Florsheim shoes I got in Klamath Falls. Then I can't remember where I got the slacks. The vest is a hand-me-down. It was my dad's. The shirt I got around the same time as my slacks. And the hat I got on a motorcycle trip in Portland, Maine. It's a memento that's traveled a few thousand miles. 

Our style: Newton: I love everything old-fashioned. I'm into everything from the 1800s to the 1950. Generally the older, modest style is what I like. This is typical for me. I'm not just wearing it because this is a bridal show. 

Hankins: I'm pretty much the same thing–just classic clothes. 

Where we shop: Newton: We just pick clothes up here and there at places like Goodwill, garage sales...I love to sew, so I make a lot of my own clothes. 

Hankins: A lot of mine have been hand-me-downs, actually. 

Why we're here: Newton: We just thought this would be something fun to do. Coming to a bridal show is totally not like us, not something we'd usually come to, but we thought we'd check it out.
